A relatively recent innovation in health care is the rise of office-based surgeries (OBS) and procedures, made possible in many cases by new technologies, shifting the load from hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers to doctors’ offices.

The in-office procedures provided by MOGA can be divided into three general categories: Diagnosis, treatment, and birth control.

Loop electrosurgical excision procedure, or LEEP, is a treatment to prevent cervical cancer by removing abnormal, precancerous cells from your cervix. A small electrical loop burns away the abnormal cells during a procedure under local anesthetic.

Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure to inspect the lining of your uterus, typically investigating uterine fibroids or polyps. Many treatment procedures can also be performed during hysteroscopies, such as the removal of fibroids and polyps and endometrial ablation.
